Dorking, Surrey
Full property refurbishment
This large and unloved detached Edwardian house in Dorking, Surrey started off as a rabbit warren of rooms on the ground floor. With a history of life as both an HMO and nursing home, every aspect needed reworking. The ground floor was reconfigured, utilising the existing footprint, to create a large kitchen diner overlooking the garden which backs onto Leith Hill. Much of the period features had been stripped out over the years leaving a sad and soulless shell.
Rebecca used an earthy palette punctuated with bold warm colours to create a welcoming family home. Antiques sit next to modern pieces to form a narrative reflecting the history of the property. Layers of fabrics in different textures and patterns create depth and interest.
